A 7 day visit to the states of Meghalaya and Assam in search of caves, cascades, tea and wildlife
DAY 01:Guwahati-Shillong (03 hrs)
Traditional welcome you at Guwahati Airport by tour manager. After your arrival we will drive to Shillong-'The Scotland of the East'. the capital of the state of Meghalaya. Reaching Shillong after a drive of approximately 3 hours, we check in at hotel Yalana or similar, freshen up & after a light meal we go out sight seeing.
Early in the morning, we will take you to Cherrapunjee, famed for being the wettest place in the world. After a drive of two ho urs amid pine trees and mists we reach Cherrapunjee. Cherrapunjee possesses some exotic waterfalls and impressive limestone caves.
At Cherrapunjee, we visit Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Falls, Thangkharang Park and Mawsmai cave which is one of the 100 odd limestone caves in Meghalaya. Afterwards, it is time for lunch. After lunch, we leave Cherrapunjee for Barapani Lake. Enroute we visit Elephant falls and Shillong peak . At Barapani Lake we check in at Orchid Lake Resort.
DAY 03: Barapani-Kaziranga (06 hrs)
First half at leisure by the side of the lake. After lunch, we take a 6 hour drive to Kaziranga National Park, the home of the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. Other residents of the park include elephants, Indian bison, four species of deer, tiger, leopard, capped langur, wild boar, hoolock gibbon etc and a host of both resident and migratory birds. We check in at Bonhabi Resort or Government Tourist Lodges.
DAY 04: Kaziranga
We start our Jungle Safari on elephant back early in the morning in the central range of the park, for one hour. Afterwards, back to hotel and breakfast. After breakfast we take you deep inside the central range of the park in a jeep. Then, we come back for lunch and rest for two hours. Again in the afternoon ,we take up another jeep safari this time covering the western range of the park.
DAY 05: Kaziranga
Early in the morning ,we go for a jeep safari in the eastern range of the park, famous for the Pelican colony. We come back for lunch and rest for two hours. In the afternoon, it's time for tea garden visits and a visit to an Assamese village.
DAY 06: Kaziranga-Guwahati (04 hrs)
In the morning we leave Kaziranga for Guwahati, the capital of Assam. We check in at hotel President or similar and take lunch. Afterwards we go for sight seeing at Guwahati.
DAY 07: Guwahati
After breakfast we proceed to the airport for your departure flight & the tour comes to an end.
